Your Questions
-
Bicarb is a very effective deodoriser - that much is true! But unfortunately it also plays havoc with our skin's protective barrier.
Bicarb has a high pH and is very easily soluble in water, this means that when you sweat, the combo of moiture and bicarb creates a very high pH solution.
Since our skin's protective barrier has an acidic pH (that's why it's called the acid mantle!) this can lead to the barrier breaking down over time or sometimes very quickly!
Whilst there are definitely some people who can tolerate this high pH, in our experience most people can't, and the result can be itching, rashes, dryness, dark patches and sometimes even a nasty fungal or bacterial infection. In our opinion bicarb is simply too harsh and not a good choice for a deodorant active.

This is totally up to you!
There are a couple of reasons that applying deodorant with your fingers can be a benefit.
Some people like to perform a lump check whilst they apply their deodorant.
Some people find that deodorant works better when it's rubbed into the skin instead of swiped on. (There is actually some evidence that pushing deodorant right to the base of the hair follicle makes it more effective!)Soon we will be releasing a refillable deodorant stick. If you think that might be more up your alley

Less than you think! Half a pea sized amount is enough for those with no hair under their arms. If you have hair under your arms a little bit more may be required.
Use just enough that you can cover the whole area and it rub in to a dry finish. If it still feels sticky or oily - use less!

Whilst the ingredients lists of our products would meet most people's definitions of natural or clean, we try to stay away from those claims for that reason - everyone has a different definition and there is no consensus on what these terms actually mean.
We don't want to imply that other products are 'dirty' or unsafe, we want you to use our products because you love them, not because there is fear about other products on the market. That would be dishonest and unfair! We also try to stay away from 'free from' claims unless we think they are particularly relevant to our customers e.g. common allergies like aluminium salts.

A full size 60g tin lasts between 3 to 6 months, depending on the person. A half size 30g tin lasts between 6 and 12 weeks.
This will depend on how much hair you have under your arms, and how often you apply.
If your tin is lasting significantly less time than this, try using less! Start with a half pea size for each underarm and see how you go - the deodorant should rub into a dry finish, if not you're probably using too much! -
Most likely! Our deodorants are formulated with sensitive skin in mind a gentle mineral blend that won't throw out the pH balance of the skin (unlike bicarb)!
We recommend our Nada deodorant for very sensitive skin which contains no fragrance / essential oils as these are relatively common allergens.
Whilst this is your best bet unfortunately people can be allergic to almost anything so we recommend trying a small size first - if you still have issues with Nada and skin sensitivity please stop use and let us know. -
No! This was a pet peeve we had with natural deodorants so we formulated our deodorant with this in mind.
A very small amount of product is required and once rubbed into the skin it should be barely perceptible and won't transfer to clothes (if it still feels a little oily, use less).
We avoid heavy oils like coconut oil or olive oils that are famous for creating oil stains, and we also include an olive derived emulsifier that allows the product to wash away cleanly.
This means that if you do accidentally swipe deodorant on your clothes popping it in the wash will remove it completely.
(When making the deodorant we sometimes spill big blobs onto our clothes - whoops! We just scrape it off and wash as normal and there's no evidence it ever happened!) -
Of course! We're happy to say that all of our products are both vegan friendly and cruelty free.
